SHYFT has been offline for a while. What should I do?

SHYFT Smart Transfer Switch systems utilize numerous mechanisms to help ensure stable and reliable cloud connectivity. With these systems in place, STS devices boast a >98% connection reliability rate even in unstable network areas where other IoT devices will struggle to hold a connection.

However, even with these mechanisms in place, there are certain conditions that can occur to cause SHYFT to go offline. Typically, these conditions will be temporary, lasting only a few minutes up to a couple of hours. In rare cases, large scale network outages can occur, preventing SHYFT from creating a successful connection to the cloud to update data.

When this occurs, the first thing to keep in mind is that SHYFT is still collecting key energy data, and will continue to operate to supply power to your property even without a cloud connection. Once the connection has been restored, all saved data will upload to the cloud through a backfill process which has been tested over many days of a simulated data outage.

In order to bring your system back online when a long outage has been identified - please follow the steps described here to help restore SHYFT's connectivity.

If the above steps are not successful, contact SHYFT Support and our team will assist with remote diagnostics and further troubleshooting investigation that may help in certain more troublesome connectivity outage scenarios.
