A More Flexible Way to Manage Meter Disconnections
The Auto-Disconnect feature has been upgraded to give you more control.
Unlike the previous version, which applied disconnection rules across all meters within a billing plan, Auto-Disconnect is now meter-specific. This means you can enable or disable disconnection settings for each meter, offering greater flexibility and control based on unique site or customer needs.
This update allows for more targeted enforcement of payment or usage rules without disrupting an entire community.
✅ What Happens When Auto-Disconnect is Enabled?
Once Auto-Disconnect is enabled for a meter:
FlexView automatically disconnects the meter when it meets the set disconnection criteria (e.g., unpaid tariff or fee past its due date).
The meter will reconnect automatically if the condition is resolved (i.e., outstanding payment is made).
This works for both tariff payments and service fees, depending on how your billing plan is set up.
⚙️ Key Behaviors to Know
1. Disconnection Is Conditional
Disconnection only occurs if there is an active unpaid fee or overdue tariff.
If there are no outstanding dues, enabling Auto-Disconnect will not affect the meter.
Disconnect behavior is tied to the active billing and fee plans and their associated due dates.
2. Impact of Disabling Auto-Disconnect
If you disable Auto-Disconnect for a meter that is already disconnected, the meter will remain disconnected.
To restore power in this case, you will need to override the disconnection using the Override feature manually.
3. Triggering Disconnect on an Already Overdue Meter
If a meter is powered and a fee is already overdue, turning Auto-Disconnect ON will immediately trigger disconnection, enforcing the policy retroactively.
🛠 When to Use This Feature
You should consider enabling Auto-Disconnect when:
You want the system to manage enforcement automatically based on pre-set rules.
You need a meter to disconnect if a fee goes unpaid or energy credit runs out.
You want to avoid manual monitoring and intervention.
You may choose to disable Auto-Disconnect when:
You are working with a new customer and prefer to monitor behavior before enforcing disconnect rules.
You want to handle disconnections manually for specific meters or users.
🧠 Best Practices
Enable Auto-Disconnect as a preventive enforcement tool for new billing cycles.
Always review your fee schedule and due dates before enabling this setting to avoid unintended disconnections.
Use the Override feature when you need to manually reconnect a meter (e.g., when a customer is resolving a dispute or needs temporary support).
